The course deals with all kinds of drawing: as sketch, idea or finished picture; on paper, on a wall, in a room, or any other picture support. The main theme is the diversity of possibilities offered by this medium – recognising and experimenting with these to further one’s own artistic development. Whether single pages or whole series, whether objects or room installations – we inquire about the interaction of form and content, and look for the best way of developing and realising an idea.

Students will examine the field of tension between abstraction and figuration, considering questions of composition, format, and the relation between the detail and the whole. New techniques will be learned, familiar ones further developed.

The resultant works and processes will be discussed individually and in groups. To conclude, we will work out a suitable form for presenting the final exhibition.
