Having collaborated between 1997 and 2006 as Artlab, not only as makers of paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations, but as presenters of the work of others, Charlotte Cullinan and Jeanine Richards began operating less anonymously as Cullinan Richards in 2006. Although studio-based, Cullinan Richards’ work is ostensibly multifaceted and involves many different types of elements. Their studio, located at no. 7 Vyner Street in London, could be viewed as a traditional artist’s studio, but also operates as a shop for selected finest Italian food. In her lecture, Charlotte Cullinan will read and talk about her work as Cullinan Richards, focussing on projects that were related to urban topics. In particular, she will reflect on her artistic and curatorial practice in London.
“I will describe the circumstances of our recent ancestors, as much as we know – how we ended up as Londoners – and maybe how they have influenced our work. I will also tell some London stories”, Cullinan announces.
