Amelie von Wulffen creates art that goes beyond painting and drawing. She incorporates the exhibition room in her collages, furniture, murals and animated cartoons, creating comprehensive interiors.
Following her recent exhibitions, Am kühlen Tisch, at Portikus, Frankfurt and Gio Marconi, Milan, she will talk about her current oil paintings and comic strips. Among her earlier topics were the constitution of German inner cities and living quarters, and her own teenage bedroom, where pictures included Gabriele Münter and Egon Schiele, as well as John Travolta and Alexander Solzhenitsyn.
The artist will talk about various techniques she uses, such as collage, murals, comic strips, drawings and photography, recapitulating her work over the past fifteen years and considering the question of why she is currently a painter.
“The fact that painting was for a long time not destined for women may today open up huge scope for women to develop."
