Why is painting the future? My answer: because it is an amusing, very clever, ancient, outgoing, silly, smart, stupid, groundbreaking, world-changing method of social confrontation and a tool for the future. Painting is a very hard, intensive, do-it-yourself experiment, time consuming, life consuming, it sucks you in, but also tears you apart. So why do we do it? Is it for the luxury? Or is it for the belief that it can really change something? Or maybe it will make us old quickly? Don’t tell me you just like mixing colours… After famous Texte zur Kunst applause that “painting is a commodity”, and now just live with that, I think it is time to change and investigate painting again.
Having realised that painting is a “thing” I would like to investigate how we can challenge and denude it. So let us leave painting as a method of control, and embrace it as a method of freedom. In the class, I will share my methods, work in a group, undress the usual and enjoy every moment of it.
