2009 saw the inauguration of an Artistic Advisory Board which unites (annually changing) international players from various fields of the art scene. The Board visits the Summer Academy and holds a public discussion on the future of this institution which is now almost 60 years old. In 2009, the Board consisted of Monica Bonvicini, Kasper König and Andreas Siekmann; the members of 2010 Board are Yilmaz Dziewior, the new director of the Bregenz Kunsthaus, Maria Lind, director of the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, N.Y., and Ines Doujak, teaching artist at the Summer Academy. The questions under consideration are: How does the Summer Academy work? What constitutes the specific quality of this institution, and what direction should it take? Would it make sense to extend the range and to offer, besides the practical classes, courses given by curators and art critics?
