Martin Schmidl

With their possibilities for providing models, books and publications are amongst the most important means of communicating artistic themes. In his work, Martin Schmidl deals with documentary and scientific artistic methods by means of drawing, photos and texts. Books and publications are his principal tools for pursuing these methods - a series of books with his drawings is under publication by Walther König. Here Martin Schmidl will present an eclectic selection from his own collection of artist's books and some of his own publications. Under discussion is the question of what makes books particularly significant means of artistic expression for the present day.

At the 2010 Summer Academy, Martin Schmidl is directing the class Drawing - Concentrate and Model in Hohensalzburg Fortress.
