These predicaments may sound all too familiar… You have to write a description of your work, but you get stuck on the first line. You try to finish a grant application, an exhibition review or maybe an artist statement – but you end up writing a bunch of emails instead.
Writing is a challenge for everyone, but especially for people in art, because we must "translate" a complex, three-dimensional, bodily experience into tiny black letters on a flat plain surface, whether screen or page.
This workshop is designed for everyone who would like to revamp their relationship to writing: artists, curators, critics, even experienced theorists. Using group discussions and individual assessments of your texts, I will explain how to get over the difficulties of writing and how to use writing not only to express your ideas but also to enrich your own creative process.
