What constitutes the emblematic quality of art? How far is content conveyed through form? Form determines content, which in turn also determines form. This course aims to examine more closely the link between these causalities, while considering questions of individual and serial work.

Drawing is a medium in which ideas can be developed and represented in a concentrated manner. The course deals with all possible functions of drawing: developing an idea, making a sketch, composing a picture – in any form – on paper, on objects, as a mural or a room installation. New techniques will be learned, familiar ones further developed.

Reflection on artistic practice is an important element of the course, so frequent group discussions will be held, as well as individual conversations in search of answers to questions about the link between form and content and the context of art-works. The aim is for students to enter into critical dialogue with their own works.
