Lunch Talk - Krystyna Piotrowska

Krystyna Piotrowska took us along on a deeper journey into her work, it quickly became apparent that the human face is the core of her artistic interest. She herself puts it like this:

"Every day we see hundereds of faces, but  our own we only see in  the relection of a mirror, or a photo." As she twists her faces to find more under their surface, they become "a bit more honest, but  it still doesn't get us closer to ourselves."

So in the end, be it through reassembling fragments, siding an image with an altered double to fade the boarders between original and copy, or by covering different faces with her hand, she always returns to her deeper questions:
What is the authentic original? How can we know? And what happens to the copy?
