Schälling | Enderle

Artists Doris Schälling and Jörg Enderle see sculpture as an explorative process. Their individual works and their joint projects since 1989 focus on stone as material and the stone quarry as a place of enquiry. For the first time, Schälling | Enderle are directing the Stone Sculpture Symposium, taking place at the Kiefer quarry in Fürstenbrunn from 4 to 31 August. In this course, traditional stone sculpture is one possibility, but other methods and media, as well as theoretical study, are also encouraged and supported.

Leya Mira Brander

For the second time, Brasilian artist Leya Mira Brander will hold the printmaking course at Hohensalzburg Fortress (22 July to 10 August). The aim of this course is to gain a thorough knowledge of various techniques of printing on paper, and then to process these prints into pop-up books and other three-dimensional objects. The students will learn how to think about the infinite possibilities of relation between the images and the different ways of cutting prints to construct a solid work of art.

Mara Mattuschka

The course of Austrian film director and artist Mara Mattuschka will concentrate on portraiture - the ultimate skill in painting. It demands knowledge of human nature, psychology, communication and empathy. Individual facial features relate to the current state of mind – of both artist and subject – and mingle to form a new whole. Thus every portrait to a certain extent documents a little (love) relationship. This course will take place at Alte Saline Hallein from 12 to 31 August.
