Christoph Schäfer - Topografie der Gemeinheit

Christoph Schäfer takes part in the group exhibition raumsichten - kunstwegen, opening on 4 May in Bad Bentheim/Nordhorn, with the new work Topografie der Gemeinheit [topography of the commons]. This three-part installation marks three places in Samern, and unveils their forgotten history of the commons, of the resistance against their expropriation and of militant anabaptism - and connects them with the Peasant Revolt & Albrecht Dürer's nightmare of 1525, and a female revolutionary songwriter from 1534. At the 2012 summer academy, Christoph Schäfer is teaching the course Drawing as desiring-machine: Reinventing the city from 16 July to 4 August.
