End of week 2

Last Friday was a hectic one starting with a book presentation delving into boycotts and ending at a party at the barracks, where the class Public Space by Feld72 is going on. The driving force of the book I can't work like this. A reader on boycott and contemporary art published by Sternberg Press and Salzburg Summer Academy of Fine Arts  was last year's curating class given by Joanna Warsza. After an intense week of talking about boycotts and art Warsza, the co-teacher Mirela Baciak and the students decided to work on a book that brings unsolved feuds to the surface by inviting artists, writers and curators to analyze the topic by also focusing on certain case studies such as 13th Istanbul Biennale, Manifesta 10, 19th Sydney Biennial and 31st Sao Paolo Biennial.

Below are some observations from the open studios of Varda Caivano's Painting Lab Painting Enquiry, Joanna Warzsa's I can't work like this. Adressing the question of curatorial ethics and Ahlam Shibli's The Notion of Subject Matter.
