Cairo based artist, author and curator Maha Maamoun will direct a course with focus on video and photography. Her own videos and photographs address the form and function of images that are found in mainstream culture. Maamoun’s approach keeps a balance between what is studied and what is intuitive, leaving room for the incidental to play itself out. In recent years, her works were exhibited/screened beside others at Fridericianum, Kassel (2014), New Museum, New York (2014), 64th Berlin International Film Festival (2014), Transmediale, Berlin (2014), Tate Modern, London (2012), 9th Gwangju Biennale (2012).
Still until 1st November 2015, one of her video works – “2026” – is on view in the first part of the exhibition “Moving image art across the Arab world” at Malmö Konsthall.
See here an excerpt of her video "Shooting stars remind me of eavesdroppers".
